Establishes a fund for grants to school districts with properties near military bases.
Illinois HB2828 creates the Support our Veterans and Neighbors Fund, which will receive moneys from the General Revenue Fund. These funds will be used to make grants to eligible school districts. An eligible school district is defined as one that contains residential property located within 45 miles of a United States military base. The Department of Revenue will certify the difference between the current taxable year exemption amount and the base amount for each eligible school district, and these amounts will be transferred to the Support our Veterans and Neighbors Fund.
