Illinois HB2815 modifies penalties for violations of civil and stalking no contact orders.
Illinois HB2815 amends the Stalking No Contact Order Act and the Civil No Contact Order Act. It removes the previous classification of a knowing violation of a stalking or civil no contact order as a Class A misdemeanor and a subsequent violation as a Class 4 felony. Instead, it sets the initial violation of a stalking no contact order as a Class A misdemeanor and a subsequent violation as a Class 4 felony if the defendant has prior convictions.
