Illinois HB2782, known as the Prohibition on Automated Online Ticket Purchasing Act, bans the use of bots to purchase tickets in excess of posted limits for online sales. It also prohibits using bots to circumvent electronic queues, waiting periods, presale codes, or other sales volume limitations. The act defines "bot" as any automated software designed to replicate human activity online. Violations are subject to civil penalties, with the Attorney General empowered to seek injunctive relief and restitution.
