HB2758

ELEC CD-VOTER PREREGISTRATION

Introduced·2/5/25
Introduced Text

Illinois HB2758 allows 16 and 17-year-olds to preregister to vote online or by paper application.

HB2758 amends the Illinois Election Code to allow individuals aged 16 or 17 to preregister to vote. This preregistration can be completed online, through the state's automatic voter registration system, or via a paper application provided by the State Board of Elections. The preregistration application is held until the individual turns 18, at which point the State Board of Elections forwards the application to the appropriate election authority. This bill aims to facilitate voter participation by enabling younger individuals to start the registration process early.
