Homestead property owned by seniors aged 67 and older is exempt from school district property taxes.

HB2641 amends the Property Tax Code to exempt certain homestead property from school district property taxes for seniors aged 67 and older. The exemption applies to property used as a primary residence by the senior or their spouse, provided the assessed value is under $250,000. The exemption continues if the senior moves to a licensed facility. Applications for the exemption must be made during the county's application period.
