Introduced Text

Illinois HB2612 mandates GPS service providers to implement detours for construction zones and emergencies, and restricts simultaneous construction.

The Construction Zone Safe Detour Act requires GPS service providers to ensure availability for emergency detour requests and upload routing information. It prohibits the Department of Transportation from conducting construction on secondary routes and parallel primary highways simultaneously, except in emergencies. The Department must reimburse local governments for damages caused by detours. The Department is also tasked with adopting emergency rules to administer the Act.
