Illinois HB2588 amends the State Comptroller Act to allow the Comptroller to deduct certain debts from lottery prizes. The Comptroller can enter into intergovernmental agreements to establish responsibilities, duties, and procedures for these deductions. The bill specifies that the Comptroller may deduct amounts owed to the State, the United States, local governments, school districts, public institutions of higher education, public agencies, or circuit court clerks. The Comptroller must notify the payee and the agency submitting the request of any deduction.
