Illinois HB2584 prohibits prior authorization for HIV pre-exposure and post-exposure prophylaxis and treatment medications.

Illinois HB2584 amends the Prior Authorization Reform Act and the Illinois Public Aid Code to prohibit health insurance issuers, the fee-for-service medical assistance program, and Medicaid managed care organizations from requiring prior authorization for HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis, post-exposure prophylaxis, and treatment medications. These medications must be approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration. The changes will take effect on January 1, 2027.
