HB2584 prohibits prior authorization for certain HIV medications in Illinois.

HB2584 amends the Prior Authorization Reform Act and the Illinois Public Aid Code to prohibit health insurance issuers, the fee-for-service medical assistance program, and Medicaid managed care organizations from requiring prior authorization for human immunodeficiency virus pre-exposure prophylaxis and post-exposure prophylaxis medication or human immunodeficiency virus treatment medication. This change takes effect January 1, 2027.
