HB2500 amends the Park District Code to adjust the timing of elections for new board members and the duration of terms.
HB2500 modifies the Park District Code to change the timing of elections for new board members and the duration of their terms. If a district's board membership is expanded or reduced by referendum or resolution, the additional members will be elected at least 225 days after the referendum, rather than 197 days. The bill also specifies that if a vacancy occurs with more than 28 months left in the term but less than 151 days before the next regularly scheduled election, the appointed person will hold the office until the next election.
