Illinois HB2478 allows Cook County employees to buy credit for up to 48 months of military service.

Illinois HB2478 amends the Cook County Article of the Illinois Pension Code to allow contributing employees to purchase creditable service for up to 48 months of active-duty military service. This applies whether or not the military service followed service as a county employee. The employee must pay an amount determined by the Fund, representing employee contributions for the creditable service based on their rate of compensation after the military service, plus interest.
