Illinois HB2399 mandates the State Board of Elections to implement an application programming interface for online voter registration by December 31.

HB2399 amends the Election Code to require the State Board of Elections to establish an application programming interface for online voter registration. This interface will allow third-party organizations approved by the State Board of Elections to submit complete voter registration applications in a standardized data format. The bill also mandates that each State department with an Internet website must include a hypertext link to the online voter registration system. The changes are set to take effect immediately upon becoming law.
