Introduced Text

Illinois HB2354 amends the Counties Code to allow county boards to lease real estate for up to 99 years.

HB2354 amends the Counties Code to permit county boards to lease real estate for up to 99 years. Farmland can be leased through cash leases, crop-sharing, or custom farming arrangements. The lease process must be publicly advertised, and sealed bids opened at a county board meeting. The lease is allowed if the property is no longer necessary or vacant, and can be used for public interest or resident benefit. The authority to lease requires a three-fourths vote by the full county board.
