HB1929 amends the Illinois Human Rights Act to grant protected class status to formerly convicted persons meeting specific conditions.

HB1929 amends the Illinois Human Rights Act to allow formerly convicted persons to petition the Department of Human Rights for protected class status. The Department may grant this status if the person has completed parole, mandatory supervised release, probation, or conditional discharge, obtained a high school diploma or equivalency certificate, is employed or in vocational training, and has not been convicted of a new felony or misdemeanor.
