HB1861 amends the School Code to clarify the resident district for children in long-term, acute care facilities and those placed in out-of-state.

HB1861 amends the School Code to specify that for children residing in long-term, acute care facilities serving a majority of minor children and Medicaid-eligible in Harvey School District 152, the parent or guardian must enroll the child in a school in another state to initiate reimbursement to Illinois if they move out of the state after the child is placed in the facility. The resident district of a homeless student is the Illinois district in which the student enrolls for educational services.
