HB1847

Illinois HB1847 allows individuals to save seeds from vegetable gardens for personal use or non-commercial sharing.

Illinois HB1847 amends the Garden Act to ensure that individuals can save seeds from vegetable gardens for personal use or non-commercial sharing. This right applies to gardens on one's own property or on private property with the owner's permission. The bill also clarifies that local governments may not adopt regulations or ordinances that specifically target vegetable gardens or the saving of seeds from these gardens, though they may still regulate other aspects such as height, setback, water use, fertilizer use, or invasive species control.
