HB1809 establishes minimum qualification requirements for code inspectors in Illinois and mandates that local governments identify their adopted.

HB1809 amends the Capital Development Board Act to set uniform statewide minimum qualification requirements for code inspectors. These inspectors must be certified by the International Code Council or an equivalent organization, complete an apprentice program, or verify inspection experience. The Board must maintain a registry and certification program for qualified inspectors. Local governments must identify their adopted building codes and any local amendments.
