Illinois HB1730, the Stop Spoofing Law, amends the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act to make it unlawful for telecommunications carriers to transmit misleading or inaccurate caller identification information through telecommunications or voice over Internet protocol services. The Attorney General is required to create and maintain a website for individuals to report such incidents. The Attorney General will use the collected information to enforce the law. Exceptions include activities by law enforcement agencies and process servers.
