Illinois HB1707 amends the Environmental Protection Act to establish gas collection and control system requirements for municipal solid waste landfills. Owners or operators must ensure gas is collected from areas where solid waste has been in place for at least one year. The system must draw gas toward control devices and achieve a methane destruction efficiency of at least 99% by weight if it uses a flare. The system must be installed within 12 months of reaching specified thresholds.
