HB1651 allows retired teachers to return to service without losing retirement benefits, with limits on hours worked.

HB1651 amends the Illinois Pension Code to allow retired teachers to return to teaching without impairing their retirement status, provided they meet certain conditions. These include not working during the school year in which they retired, not working more than a specified number of days or hours per school year, and not working if they retired before age 60 with less than 34 years of service within a year of retirement, or if they retired at age 60 or above with 34 or more years of service within 90 days of retirement.
