Illinois HB1616 allows employees to use up to 10 days of leave annually to serve as organ donors.

HB1616 amends the Employee Blood and Organ Donation Leave Act to allow participating employees, including part-time employees, to use up to 10 days of leave in any 12-month period to serve as organ donors. Employers must compensate part-time employees at their daily average pay for the leave days used. Leave must be approved by the employer and requires medical documentation. The Department must adopt rules governing leave for blood or organ donation, including conditions for requesting and approving leave.
