LITTLE FREE LIBRARIES ACT

Introduced·1/22/25
Introduced Text

Illinois HB1593 allows homeowners to operate little free libraries on their property without association restrictions.

Illinois HB1593, the Homeowners' Little Free Library Act, ensures that associations cannot prohibit residents or owners from operating little free libraries on their property. These libraries must be maintained and should not extend onto neighboring properties, public sidewalks, pathways, streets, or interfere with traffic or utilities. Associations may adopt reasonable rules and regulations for these libraries, provided they do not impair maintenance or impose height restrictions.
