The Civil Liability for Unsolicited Intimate Images Act makes it a trespass for individuals over 18 to knowingly send obscene material electronically to another person of the same age without consent. The sender is liable for damages or $500, whichever is greater, plus attorney's fees and costs if the recipient suffers emotional distress. The court can enjoin further acts and the remedies are cumulative. The Act does not apply to internet service providers, mobile data providers, or health care providers transmitting material for legitimate purposes.
