Establishes a course for school safety officers and allows their employment in schools.

The Illinois Police Training Act is amended to require the Law Enforcement Training Standards Board to approve a course for school safety officers, defined as retired law enforcement officers hired by school districts for security services. The course must include 48 hours of training, including theory of law enforcement, liability for acts, and handling of weapons. School safety officers must wear uniforms and badges identifying them as such. They may carry firearms if they have completed specified firearm training.
