Illinois HB1564 mandates additional testing for applicants seeking mental health technician positions at state-operated developmental centers.

HB1564 amends the Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Administrative Act to require applicants for mental health technician positions at state-operated developmental centers to complete the Test for Adult Basic Education, demonstrating a 5th-grade reading and writing ability, and a series of physical agility tests. These tests include lifting at least 50 pounds, a one-mile walk, a shuttle run, and a patient transfer test. These requirements are in addition to any other existing application criteria. The bill takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
