HB1421

VETERANS PAID LEAVE ACT

Introduced·1/16/25
Introduced Text

Veterans Day Paid Leave Act requires employers to give veterans a paid day off on Veterans Day.

The Veterans Day Paid Leave Act mandates that employers provide each veteran employee with a paid day off on Veterans Day, starting from January 1, 2026. The employee must notify the employer at least 30 days in advance and provide documentation verifying their veteran status. If an employer cannot accommodate the request without significant disruption, they may deny it but must offer a substitute day off. Employers can claim an income tax credit for wages paid to veterans for this leave.
