Illinois HB1373 amends the Criminal Code to require law enforcement agencies to use the eTrace platform of the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives for sharing firearm trace reports among agencies. It also mandates that upon recovering a firearm under specific conditions, law enforcement must use the best available information, including a firearms trace, to determine how and from whom the person gained possession of the firearm.
