Illinois HB1366 mandates schools to inform parents of children with disabilities about their rights to an IEP advocate and facilitator.
HB1366 amends the Children with Disabilities Article of the School Code to require schools to provide written notice to parents or guardians of children with disabilities. This notice informs them of their right to have an individualized education program (IEP) advocate present at any meeting concerning the child's current or prospective IEP, and their right to request an IEP facilitator for their child. Schools may include this notification in other documentation, such as admission and enrollment papers.
