HB1362

SERVICE MEMBER EMPLOYMENT-COMP

Complete·8/15/25

Illinois HB1362 amends the Service Member Employment and Reemployment Rights Act to redefine "work days" as shifts rather than days.

Illinois HB1362 amends the Service Member Employment and Reemployment Rights Act by redefining "work days" as the actual number of shifts an employee would have worked during military leave. This change disregards the number of hours in a shift, even if it extends into the next day. The bill removes the provision that counted work hours extending into the next calendar day as two work days. Differential compensation is calculated by subtracting the daily rate of compensation for military service from the daily rate of compensation as a public employee.
