The Illinois Native Landscapes Act prevents local governments from enacting or enforcing ordinances that restrict the growth of Illinois native species on private property. This includes prohibiting or unreasonably limiting the voluntary growth of native species or the installation and maintenance of native landscaping. Native landscaping can be in any area, including front, back, or side yards, or on farms, rural properties, corporate campuses, school campuses, and large estates.
