HB1263

HB1263 amends Illinois Vehicle Code to allow non-highway vehicles on certain roads and exempts county boards from liability for crashes.

HB1263 amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to allow non-highway vehicles, such as all-terrain vehicles and golf carts, to operate on county or township roadways between half an hour before sunset and half an hour after sunrise. These vehicles must be equipped with headlights and tail lights. The bill also allows non-highway vehicles to cross roads or streets at intersections where the speed limit is more than 55 miles per hour. Local governments must assess traffic conditions to determine if non-highway vehicles can safely operate on their roads.
