HB1237 amends the Illinois School Code to prohibit schools from using names, logos, or mascots associated with Native Americans. Schools may continue using existing materials purchased before the law's effective date until September 1, 2028, provided they select new names, logos, or mascots that do not reference Native Americans. Schools must also refrain from purchasing new materials with the prohibited names, logos, or mascots. If school facilities display these names, logos, or mascots, they must be removed during the next scheduled remodel or replacement.
