HB1175 amends the Environmental Protection Act to require owners or operators of CCR surface impoundments at electric generating plants bordering Lake Michigan to close these impoundments by removing CCR for off-site disposal. Owners or operators must submit a site investigation report and a CCR removal and remediation plan to the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (Agency). The Agency reviews these submissions and may require modifications. Upon plan approval, owners or operators must implement the plan and submit a completion report.
