Illinois HB1157 amends the Election Code, the Township Code, the Revised Cities and Villages Act of 1941, and the School Code to allow postponing elections and meetings if they conflict with the celebration of Passover. Passover is defined as the eight-day period beginning on the 15th day of the Hebrew lunisolar month of Nisan. The bill allows township boards to postpone annual township meetings and consolidated elections to the first Tuesday following the last day of Passover.
