Illinois HB1153 mandates local governments to post elected official vacancies on their websites for at least 15 days.
HB1153, the Local Official Vacancy Posting Act, requires local governments to post every elected official vacancy on their websites if maintained by full-time staff. If the local government lacks a website, the county clerk must post the vacancy on the county website. Vacancies must remain posted until filled. Local governments cannot fill a vacancy until the posting has been online for at least 15 days. The act limits home rule powers.
