Establishes local advisory committees on special education in Illinois school districts and regional cooperative programs.

The Local Advisory Committees on Special Education Act establishes local advisory committees in Illinois school districts and regional cooperative programs that provide special education services. These committees are formed if requested by more than three parents or guardians of students receiving special education services. The committees provide recommendations on unmet needs, review school improvement plans, monitor compliance with laws, and advocate for students with disabilities. Members serve without compensation but can be reimbursed for expenses. The Act takes effect July 1, 2026.
