Illinois HB1100 amends the Medical Patient Rights Act to enhance patient rights regarding health information and insurance policy notifications.

HB1100 amends the Medical Patient Rights Act to establish several patient rights. Patients must receive timely notice if their insurance policy is canceled or not renewed. Patients must also be informed if they are required to be tested for HIV or other infections, with results kept confidential. Patients have the right to access an electronic record of their health information disclosures free of charge. They can also opt out of having their health information transmitted to a health information exchange.
