Idaho S1346 adds to existing law to establish a moratorium on certain uses of human gene therapy products for children under 18 and pregnant women. This moratorium aims to protect the safety, cellular integrity, and well-being of Idaho children. The moratorium does not apply to products used for cancer or genetic disorder treatment, clinical trials under an active institutional review board protocol, or expanded access for serious or immediately life-threatening conditions. The moratorium will remain in effect for two years, subject to legislative review of available safety data.
