Idaho S1289 establishes scholarship limitations for non-U.S. citizen student athletes at Idaho public institutions of higher education.

Idaho S1289 amends Idaho Code to set scholarship limits for non-U.S. citizen student athletes at Idaho public institutions of higher education. The bill mandates that no more than 10% of scholarships can be awarded to non-U.S. citizens across all sports except football, and no more than 5% of athletes on any team roster can be non-U.S. citizens. Additionally, no more than 50% of any team's members can receive scholarships if they are not U.S. citizens. The Idaho state board of education is tasked with creating rules to implement these provisions, subject to legislative approval.
