Idaho S1237 repeals the voter's affidavit in lieu of identification and amends voter registration and early voting procedures.

Idaho S1237 repeals Section 34-1114 of the Idaho Code, which allowed voters to use an affidavit instead of identification. The bill also amends Section 34-409 to allow the Secretary of State to maintain an electronic voter registration system. Section 34-1012 is amended to clarify early voting procedures, requiring voters to sign the election register and poll book before receiving a ballot. Section 34-1106 is amended to remove the requirement for a personal identification affidavit and to make technical corrections. The changes take effect on January 1, 2027.
