Idaho S1221 amends the definition of "employee" under the Public Employee Retirement System of Idaho (PERSI).

Idaho S1221 amends Section 59-1302 of Idaho Code to revise the definition of "employee" for purposes of the Public Employee Retirement System of Idaho (PERSI). The bill clarifies that an employee does not include individuals in certain specified roles, such as those working less than five consecutive months, those provided sheltered or make-work employment, inmates of state institutions, and students employed by state colleges or universities. The bill also includes technical corrections and declares an emergency, making it effective from July 1, 2026.
