Introduced Text

Idaho H0915 mandates daily recess for kindergarten through fifth-grade students and encourages breaks for sixth through eighth graders.

Idaho H0915 amends existing law to require public schools to offer daily recess to students in kindergarten through grade 5. This recess must occur outdoors for at least 20 minutes, weather permitting, or indoors if necessary. The bill also encourages schools to provide unstructured activity breaks for students in grades 6 through 8. Recess cannot be withheld from an entire class for disciplinary reasons. The changes will take effect on July 1, 2026.
