Introduced·3/13/26
Introduced Text

Idaho H0892 amends the process for filling vacancies on boards of county commissioners based on county population.

Idaho H0892 revises the process for filling vacancies on boards of county commissioners. For counties with populations less than 50,000, the county central committee submits one nominee to the governor. For counties with populations between 50,000 and 100,000, two nominees are submitted, and for counties with populations over 100,000, three nominees are submitted. The governor must fill the vacancy from the list within 15 days. If the governor fails to act, the county central committee designates one nominee to fill the vacancy. This change applies to vacancies occurring after July 1, 2026.
