Idaho H0642 amends benefits for public safety officers who suffer catastrophic injuries or die in the line of duty.

Idaho H0642 amends and repeals existing law to establish public safety officer catastrophic injury or death in the line of duty benefits. The bill provides a onetime permanent catastrophic injury benefit of $500,000 and an ongoing annual benefit of at least $75,000, adjusted every four years. In cases of death, the surviving spouse or dependent children are eligible for benefits. The benefits are funded solely by public safety officers and are not subject to Idaho state income tax.
