Idaho H0584 adds provisions to Idaho Code to require employers to verify the legal employment status of workers. Employers must enroll in the e-verify program and verify new hires within three days of employment. The bill prohibits knowingly employing unauthorized aliens and outlines penalties for violations, including business license suspension and contract termination. The attorney general can bring actions to enforce these provisions. The bill also provides defenses and exclusions, such as entrapment and independent contractors' employees. The provisions apply starting July 1, 2026.
