The bill establishes a one-year school bus driver certification subsidy pilot program within the Department of Education to address Hawaii's severe school bus driver shortage. The program will subsidize the costs associated with training and certification of prospective bus drivers. The Department of Education will establish eligibility criteria, a curriculum or training plan, and pathways for existing school van drivers or school bus aides to obtain necessary licenses and endorsements.
