Hawaii SB859 establishes paid family leave for public employees.

Hawaii SB859 introduces a new part to the Hawaii Revised Statutes, establishing paid family leave for public employees. Qualified employees, defined as those who have completed at least 1,250 hours of service over at least twelve months, are entitled to twelve weeks of paid leave during any twelve-month period for the birth or placement of a child, care for a child, spouse, parent, or sibling with a serious health condition, or care for a spouse, reciprocal beneficiary, child, grandchild, parent, or sibling with a serious health condition.
