Expands prohibition on campaign contributions by state and county contractors and grantees.
This bill amends Hawaii's campaign finance law to extend the prohibition on campaign contributions to state and county grantees, their officers, and immediate family members. Previously, only state and county contractors were barred from making contributions. The bill also mandates that contractors and grantees provide a list of their owners, officers, and immediate family members to the relevant state or county office. Any unlawful contributions not returned within 30 days will escheat to the Hawaii election campaign fund.
