The bill establishes an Office of Gun Violence Prevention within the Department of Law Enforcement to focus on interrupting cycles of gun violence, trauma, and retaliation. The office will implement community-based gun violence intervention initiatives, create a resource bank for data and research, and develop a plan to address gun violence in Hawaii. The office will also administer a grant program for organizations to conduct community-based gun violence intervention initiatives.
