SB711 requires gubernatorial appointees with salaries equal to or greater than the governor's or principal department head's salary to obtain Senate.

SB711 amends Hawaii Revised Statutes to mandate that gubernatorial appointees with salaries equal to or greater than the governor's or principal department head's salary must receive Senate confirmation. The governor must submit these nominations by the 41st day of the 2026 regular session. Appointees will not continue in their positions after the session's end unless confirmed by the Senate. This requirement does not apply to the position of administrative director as per the state constitution.
