Hawaii SB64 amends the Hawaii Revised Statutes to mandate that each public school, from kindergarten through grade twelve, must employ or contract at least one mental health professional for every 250 students starting in the 2027-2028 school year. This applies to both department schools and public charter schools. The bill defines "mental health professional" to include licensed mental health counselors, licensed psychologists, school psychologists, and social workers.
